Fall box centerpiece

My hydrangea filled wood box was in need of some TLC…so I decided to spruce it up this Fall.

After they dried out I added some faux blooms to keep the box looking full but is was looking tired this year so I decided it was time to add some small pinecones from my larch tree.

First I baked the pinecones to get rid of any bugs…it also made it easy to remove the needles and it left the house smelling great.

After removing the hydrangeas I needed something to fill the box, in order to keep all the decor items from sinking to the bottom. All I had on hand were some egg cartons…they did the job!!

I filled the box with three faux hydrangea stems, some of the dried hydrangea, small white pumpkins, the pinecones and a few dried Chinese lantern plant blossoms left over from my updated burlap wreath.

I am pretty pleased with the outcome and the cost was minimal (a bag of white pumpkins from the grocers). Hope I have inspired you to create something you love.
