Christmas time in the kitchen & DIY placemats!
My kitchen table needed a little sparkle to tie in with the rest of the Holiday decor around the house. Trying to save money as always I wanted to work with what I had on hand.
A wreath from previous years was updated with my dried hydrangea blooms and pinecones.
I used a piece of fine wool fabric that I had stashed away for a runner. I simple frayed the edge of the fabric, no sewing!
The placemats I had on hand were inexpensive vinyl ones from the grocery store…you can find these anywhere. I applied some blue ribbon to the center with a dab of hot glue on the reserve side and embellished each one with a plastic snowflake.
These can be easily converted back to the original or the ribbon changed to a different colour with a different embellishment. I am pretty pleased with my table setting and it did not cost me anything as I had everything I needed. Be sure to look around your house and see how you can repurpose things for the Holidays.
Here are a few other Holiday ideas that I used in my kitchen…
A glass cloche, usually used to hold cookies or desserts was turned into a Christmas scene with some Epsom salt for snow and some figurines from my Nativity collection.
A frosty fern, my silver chalkboard tray and a Christmas candle sit on my kitchen counter.
The stove area is kept simple with a Holiday dishcloth and a wreath over the hood.
Thanks for coming by to visit, I hope I have inspired you today to get creative.
Margaret
