Sneak Peek: Kitchen Renovation
We have had our farm for over a year now and the renovations have been ongoing…
first a new deck, new windows and doors, a wood burning stove and then we gutted the kitchen.
before |
We had stairs to the basement right in the middle of the kitchen and that was the first thing to go…
This is the other side of the kitchen with flooring removed and wood stove already in place. The stairs to the basement are now gone and a garden door replaces an old window.
New ceiling and flooring…all installed by my husband when we are up there for the weekend (it all took a long time to install and there were some bumps along the road…I will save that story for another time).
Here is the SNEAK PEEK…

Two pendants over the Island and did I mention I got a double oven...

The kitchen still needs a backsplash and some wood trim, open shelving needs to be installed and the whole house needs to be painted…then I can have a REAL reveal.
I am presently trying to decide if I should paint the bar chairs a pop of colour or leave them white…
There are lots of opinions by my followers back on my FACEBOOK page….feel free to leave a comment.

Hi Lindsay, the kitchen cabinet company we used ordered the bins for us as well as the baskets for the island. I am sure you can contact a kitchen manufacture and ask them and they will be able to order them for you. You can also try Home-depot or Lowe’s, they may have them in their kitchen department or tell you where you can get them. Hope that helps.

Hi Margaret, your kitchen looks great. Thanks for sharing. My husband and I have just added a garbage/recycling center similar to yours. Do you mind sharing where you found the two trash cans that fit so nicely? Thanks.
Margaret
Hi, the island counter top is a butcher block counter top. We had the kitchen company make it for us.

Hi! I loooove the island countertop! Will you share how you did it? Thanks.
Margaret
Thanks Jane! Those stairs really ruined the whole layout of the kitchen. I am so happy my husband was able to move them. We are currently finishing the wood floor and completing the stairs that were moved. As soon as the back splash is up and the kitchen is painted I will post more photos.

Thanks Jerri. The layout of the old kitchen just did not work. The island was all the way on the other side, nowhere near the working area. I really enjoy being in the kitchen now.

Margaret,
I’m just dying to see more of your kitchen! We live in an old house and we plan to redo our kitchen one day. You have so many components in yours that I want in mine, including that wood stove! Moving those stairs really gave you so much more space! Unfortunately, we will have to tear off the back of our house to renovate ours! You did an incredible and I look forward to seeing it all!

WOW. When I first saw the pictures of the original kitchen I really thought that it was so cute and didnt know why you would redo it.. then I saw the new kitchen. lol. WOW. Absolutely GORGEOUS.
Margaret
Thanks! I am looking forward to having it all done 🙂

Thanks Darlene!! That is very sweet of you 🙂

Thanks Pam! I was very surprised when the realtor first showed us the house, the great thing is that my husband is a framing carpenter and he said he would move them as soon as possible 🙂

Beautiful! Who in the world ever thought that the basement stairs belonged in the kitchen? You have so much more room to work with now.

Thanks Chessa! The counter tops are quartz, I have granite at my other house and am not very happy with it so this time I decided to go with quartz, maintenance free. The sink is from Shaws-Lancaster, a local kitchen company ordered it for me. Hope that helps. Have fun with your kitchen reno.

Beautiful! I’m getting ready to redo a kitchen myself. What kind of counter tops did you use (white)? Also where did you get the Farmhouse sink?
